Arrow -1×2- Honor Thy Father

This episode was kind of a mess. But I kind of expected it to be going in since second episodes usually are, making transitions from the pilot filmed a year earlier to the show direction that was thought of in those months. A lot of clunky dialogue with a lot more exposition especially telling us a lot of what we knew from the pilot.

The A story was really lacking for me. It just wasn't all that interesting and Lauerl's conflict with her dad didn't make a lot of sense. What's wrong with having a police escort to protect your neck? Then after the attack, she still didn't want him to help her? Huh?

There was still a lot here I liked. Diggle is quite excellent and I can't wait until Oliver will take him into his confidence (you just know it's going to happen). Right now there voiceovers aren't working and he needs someone to talk to and bounce ideas off and put things into perspective. I like Walter too and I think he's a good guy who doesn't know about the activities of his wife.

But overall this episode felt rushed with too much being stuffed in. Everything was kind of all over the place and not tight enough for my tastes.

Still like it but it's going to have to be more tightly written and have full stories involved instead of this little bit of everything approach of trying to do too much at once. I like their focuses on the characters but they need to make it more coherent.
