The scene where they were trying to cut off that dude's leg before the Walkers got them was the best thing this show has ever done. Really amazing television. The opening was pretty great, too, and the later scene of the zombie slicing his cheeks off on the window trying to get to Lori. Wonderfully gross. Although I feel like they made Lori have that stupid accident just to prove that she's not defenseless, which they could have done without making her act like an idiot first, and to create for Rick/Shane drama, which they could also have done in a better way.
The episode slowed down a bit after that awesome scene and went back to being talky, but I actually thought all the emotional/dramatic fallout was really compelling, in part because it was finally new stuff, and because they used the ensemble well. Shane's obsession with Lori is creepy in a firmer way than some of his other actions, and Lori's concern about it comes off less like her normal self-rigtheous BS and more like she's actually using her head.
