Glee 3-7: "I Kissed a Girl" 2011.11.29

I really wanted to love this episode. Santana is possibly one of my favorite characters on the show, if not the favorite. (I don't really care about the mean insults... this whole show is far too uneven, arbitrary and unrealistic to get caught up on moral indignation, quite frankly, so I think some of her insults are hilarious.) But I'm tired of Glee club being a support group where storylines and drama are shoehorned between musical numbers.

I guess that's a general gripe about the show -- it's not a TV show that has songs. It's a variety show that tries to insert storylines that are used fastly and loosely to cater to the song of the day. It's like bad porn. Storylines are there to support performances, not the other way around.

Santana's scene with her grandmother fell flat for me. I love Naya, but I wasn't sold on that scene. It was like she was telling her that she decided to attend college at Clown University, not that she's gay. And when a TV show dealing with a gay teen plays the song "I Kissed A Girl," I am predisposed to hating it anyway. Anyone who thinks that song applies to lesbian teens doesn't get it.

I don't know, every week I say I'm so over this show but every week I come back because nothing else is on TV. Blah. I need to DVD some good shows I never watched when they were on.
