This episode worked for me because I saw the members of the family communicating clearly (in their car conversations) in non-judgmental ways - Cam and Mitchell didn't snipe at each other in the car on the way to the restaurant, Phil showed he has a backbone, at least some of the time, and Gloria recognized her own jealousy.
Mind you, I was won over by "It tastes like a fish and a turkey beat themselves to death with a pepper!" And also, "Get it together, here comes Mr. Gorgeous -- Jarvis! Shut up." I really like Ariel Winter's timing.
