Once Upon a Time (2011) -1×8- Desperate Souls

Glad the show is back.

So, Rumpel got his powers from Brad Dourif? Great casting there; it was small, but if anyone can match Rumepl in creepiness, it would be Brad Dourif. Loved Rumpel's backstory; that he use to be a decent, if cowardly guy, only to become evil at the end. And it shows why he's so ****-bent with his contracts, because he knows first hand how not getting all the information can screw you over. Robert Caryle was amazing as always.

The election story-line was OK, but very predictable. I knew that no matter what, Emma was going to win. But I loved Mr. Gold using it to his advantage and confrontation between him and Regina is fun. I like that both are clearly up to no good, but there doesn't seem to be an alliance between them. They tolerate each other and might even work together, but I can see either one of them cutting the other ones' throat if it would help them further their goals.

I actually felt sorry for Sydney. I really don't think he wanted to be the sheriff and he seems to be just as scared of Regina as everyone else.

So, next week we will meet Hansel and Gretel. And I read somewhere they will be played by the child actors that played young Olivia and Peter on Fringe. If that is true, that is kind of funny.
