I really don't know what to make of this season opener.
All of the storylines were stupid, but Jason's really bugged me. I don't recall Jason having an issue with black women before, so where's this coming from? Just because someone dates/marries outside their race doesn't always mean that they have some deep-seated issues with their own race. Also, who the fuck cares? Jason's always been rude, but the shit he was saying to Brandy at the bar was OTT even for him.
I didn't care about Malik's almost-dead supermodel. They should've called the clinic or her sponsor and told them to come get Jenna. Suppose she did die? Since they didn't want the police involved, were they going to bury her in the yard and build a gazebo over her body?
I'm sick of Derwin's holier-than-thou attitude. It's a pattern with him, so at least the show's being consistent in that regard, but to say to Mel that friends ask him what he sees in her should've had her fuming. Mel is very extra when she wants to be, but that's a shitty thing to say to the woman who put her career on hold for you (nice dig about it being debatable if she's really a doctor), and who accepted his son. And yes, this whole thing started with Drew Sidora, so Derwin really needs to have a seat. He set the whole chain of events in motion.
