Thor Goes 3D And New Still From The Movie

Director  Kenneth Branagh told the L.A. Times that he was initially hesitant to go 3-D on Thor because he felt it was all "math and physics" and way over his head, but he warmed to the idea:

"We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience.

"It's another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way," he said. "I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front ... I've become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way.

"A pretty careful conversation is what we've been having for quite some time about what we know has to be the most sensible decision: Is it led by story? Can this offer a different type of experience and exploit what we have in the story? It absolutely can ... we travel very long distances in the movie and the opportunity to export and exploit the journey of the hero is really offered up as a great potential enhancement here."

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Thor opens May 6, 2011!

Whoopdy doo... More movies jumping on the 3D bandwagon. God damn you, Avatar. As for the pic they look interesting. I like the high-tech feel to it. However, I hope Loki gets a better costume.

Good video. Should bring back his sex appeal to the Urban market at least.

John Legend & The Roots – Wake Up! (Tracklist)

John Legend and The Roots deliver a Wake Up! call to listeners with their soulful collaborative effort. The 11-track album, due September 21, contains covers of songs from the ’60s and ’70s, including Marvin Gaye’s “Wholy Holy,” Donny Hathaway’s “Little Ghetto Boy,” and the Common and Melanie Fiona-assisted first single “Wake Up Everybody.” The inspiring collection also features one original composition called “Shine,” which serves as the theme for the documentary Waiting for Superman.
“These songs sound so relevant now,” stated Legend. “On most of them, you wouldn’t change a lyric. ‘Wake Up Everybody’ has four verses—the first one is a general statement, the second is about education, third is about health care, and the fourth is about making a better environment. No editing needed.”
01 Compared to What
02 Hard Times
03 Little Ghetto Boy
04 Wake Up Everybody f. Common and Melanie Fiona
05. Our Generation
06 Love the Way It Should Be
07 Hang On in There
08 I Can’t Write Left Handed
09 Wholy Holy
10 I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free
11 Shine

I just hope this picture isnt a reflection of the content of the album (BlackThought sitting in the background with J.Legend hogging the spotlight). I trust the Roots’ product, so I doubt it, but its a concern of mine. Other than that I seriously can't wait for this to drop .

The Boondocks: Lovely Ebony Brown (Season 3 Ep. 11)

So Robert finally lands a woman -- a perfectly sane, normal woman -- and then loses her due to his insecurities. And Riley feeding those insecurities certainly didn't help. Still, I loved that Ebony sort of broke the fourth wall by subtly mentioning Robert's adventures with other "characters." And Robert doubting he had all that many "episodes" left? Nice double reference to his own life and the series' imminent cancellation.

And Ruckus actually likes a black woman, for once? Go figure. Though when he talked about being glad to have no black women in his life, I was waiting for either Robert or Tom to say that he has no women in his life. But now for the bad part. Why, oh, why did Aaron have to subject us to his friggin' tuba theme FIVE TIMES IN ONE EPISODE?!

On another note, I LOL'd at the flashbacks to Robert's other failed relationships with Carlita, Tara, and Ellen. But I liked that Huey and Riley cared enough to save him in the case of that last one.

Pretty good episode, on the whole.

Reel Review : Predators

PLOT: A group of battle-hardened warriors are transported to the Predator home world, where they are hunted for sport.

Twilight Loses Its Bite At The Box Office Thanks To A Despicable Animated Debut

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse didn't have as much bite as I thought it would, falling to 2nd place in its 2nd week behind Despicable Me, which did huge box numbers at $60.1 million. Honestly, I thought this thing would do maybe $30 million but kids love cartoons and parents are always having to take their screaming brats somewhere to shut them up for a couple of hours. Despicable Me is a rather charming comedy so at least it deserves the #1 spot.

Coming Soon : My Generation Thursdays This Fall On ABC

My Generation is a new series coming to ABC this fall. And this one has piqued my interest.

The series is not a reality TV show, but it is based on a documentary crew that follows teens who attend Greenbelt High School in Austin, Texas. But the twist to make the series more interesting is that the crew also visits these people ten years later. While we’ve seen some documentary type shows (The Office, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family) it’s important to note that they’re usually good, and I’d certainly rather have an influx of these than more reality TV shows.

Based upon the promo, this series is not at all a fluff piece. The writing will reflect what honestly could happen to people growing up in the world in these past ten years, and how world events influenced them. If you ever were a fan of the series Reunion, it’s only sort of like that. But seriously, My Generation looks amazing to me and I know that I’ll be watching.

Coming Soon : Machete

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for Machete. If you remember, for Cinco de Mayo, a special “Illegal” trailer for Machete hit the net.  While the new trailer is decent, I thought the first one was much better as it sold what the movie is really about.  Either way, I’m super excited for the movie and can’t wait to check it out in early September.

Written by Rodriguez and co-directed by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, Machete also features one of the most eclectic casts out there which includes Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, and Steven Segal.
