My Generation is a new series coming to ABC this fall. And this one has piqued my interest.
The series is not a reality TV show, but it is based on a documentary crew that follows teens who attend Greenbelt High School in Austin, Texas. But the twist to make the series more interesting is that the crew also visits these people ten years later. While we’ve seen some documentary type shows (The Office, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family) it’s important to note that they’re usually good, and I’d certainly rather have an influx of these than more reality TV shows.
Based upon the promo, this series is not at all a fluff piece. The writing will reflect what honestly could happen to people growing up in the world in these past ten years, and how world events influenced them. If you ever were a fan of the series Reunion, it’s only sort of like that. But seriously, My Generation looks amazing to me and I know that I’ll be watching.
