Dexter Season 5 Ep 11 : Hop A Freighter

Deb, Deb, Deb, oh how I love you. She kicked so much ass. I wonder if the writers realise what an amazing and unique female character they have created. You really don't get many like her on TV these days. There was Starbuck on BSG who sort of comes close, but I actually think Deb is way better than she ever was. Anyway, Jennifer Carpenter has been superb all season and for sure deserves Emmy recognition. I loved her scenes with Jordan Chase and the whole vigilante-love theory she shared with Dexter. And oh, that delicious irony. The person she loves and feels that she can trust the most is the person that has been lying to her his whole life.

I really liked Quinn's declaration of love, because he kinda voiced all the things I love the most about Deb! I thought it was awesome that all the guyish qualities about her character are what attracted him to her the most. Nice gender bending there. But I have a feeling things are going to get nasty for him. He's probably going to be tied to Liddy's murder - they didn't show that blood dripping on his shoe for nothing - and I see a possible arrest looming... this will be another thing he'll have in common with Doakes: Dexter's crimes being pinned on him.

I continue to really enjoy Dexter and Lumen together, and I never thought I would. To reiterate what another poster has already said, there is a huge difference between the way he used to look at Rita and the way he now looks at Lumen. It's like Rita was a beard he grew very fond of and did love in his own way, but Lumen is someone he truly loves in a genuinely intimate way. The knife scene was great and really fitting; I thought he had taken her jewelery shopping before the camera panned down.
